PULS concerts in MENGI

MENGI is proud to present this year’s PULS concerts with a great mix of musicians from the Nordic countries! All three concerts display special connections between the Nordic artists and MENGI, and we are honoured to be able to foster these musical relationships further through the PULS programme.

The PULS concerts are:

21.12.22 – ZAAR | Salóme Katrín | RAKEL (DK/SE/IS)

Salóme Katrín, RAKEL and Sara Flindt (ZAAR) will be joining forces for the last time this year performing music from their split album as well as new unreleased material. The three released their seven song split album ‘While We Wait’ on the 25th of February this year but their collaboration started in the autumn of 2020, when they streamed a concert from Mengi. From that concert the idea of a split album grew and came to fruition about two years later.

28.12.22 – 'Floreana' Release Concert | Gustaf Ljunggren & Skúli Sverrisson (SE/DK/IS)

Mengi is proud to present the Icelandic release concert of 'Floreana' (2022, April Records), a record that includes new music performed by the Swedish Gustaf Ljunggren and Skúli Sverrisson. The songs in the recordings, composed by Gustaf, are carefully arranged and performed by the two artists on several different instruments. 'Floreana' was recorded at Masterkey Studios in Seltjarnarnes, Iceland, and in Gustaf’s studio in Copenhagen where he has lived and worked for many years. Indeed, Gustaf says it was at Mengi that the idea and material for the album started to take shape, during a musical meeting with Skúli Sverrisson some years back.

About PULS

Puls is The Nordic Culture Fund's five-year music initiative 2017-2022 aiming to strengthen the Nordic live music scene. Puls is designed to help live music transcend boundaries, including national borders and narrow genre boundaries, to support new bands, up-and-coming talent and new trendsetters, and to act as a counterweight to the purely commercial approach – which, although important and vital for growth in the music industry, has a tendency to dominate the scene unless new, less immediately commercial music is also supported. More information about PULS can be found here.
