History

Mengi was opened on December 11th, 2013. The venue was designed by Elísabet Jónsdóttir, designer and Hrafnhildur Jónsdóttir, architect.

"Mengi has created an innovative and excellent program for events of all kinds. In a tiny space at Óðinsgata it’s audience has been able to experience hundreds of events every year; concerts, visual art performances, dance performances and theater performances. As regards music, Mengi has created a rare platform for musical creation of all kind, rock, electronic, baroque, folk, contemporary music, jazz or all at once, performed by both Icelandic artists and artists from abroad. In 2015 Mengi added weekly creative music labs for children to its’ ambitious program. Mengi is an invaluable melting pot for discoveries and experiences for artists and visitors alike."
